Introducing 2 New Characters From The Heroes Of Olympus: The House Of Hades

A few days from now, The Heroes Of Olympus: The House Of Hades will be finally unleashed in bookstores near you. It's a 600-page of fantastic journey that chronicles the adventures of our favorite demigods from Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter.

But aside from the characters we've come to know and love book after book after book, new characters will take part in the story, either to aid or to burden our heroes. Thanks to John Rocco's always fantastic art, the following new characters have been given their modern look.

Eros a.k.a Cupid

Eros a.k.a Cupid in The House of Hades

This god of Love is known as Eros by the Greeks and as Cupid by the Romans (and probably most the rest of the world). In some mythology versions, he is said to be a son of Aphrodite, but in the modern world, he is the symbol of valentines of a man (or a cherubim) wielding a bow and arrow. Whoever is struck by his weapon falls deeply in love.

Nyx

Nyx is the Greek goddess of the night. She is known by the name Nox by Romans. She was the mother of Hypnos, the god of Sleep, and Thánatos, the god of Death, She has been present ever since the beginning of creation.

On a related note, here is author Rick Riordan talking about The House of Hades and his other future, planned novels.

And while you're at it, you might also want to read a deleted scene from The Last Olympian on Rick Riordan's official blog.

Synopsis

At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape? They have no choice. If the demigods don't succeed, Gaea's armies will never die. They have no time. In about a month, the Romans will march on Camp Half-Blood. The stakes are higher than ever in this adventure that dives into the depths of Tartarus.

Copies of The Heroes Of Olympus: The House Of Hades will fly in bookstores on October 8, 2013.
