Author Brandon Sanderson Unveils Line-up Of Future Projects And What To Expect From Him

I am eagerly waiting for the release of Firefight, the second book in The Reckoners series by Brandon Sanderson. Come January 6, 2015 and the wait will be almost over, because I still have to wait a few more days for the delivery time... Just imagine my excitement right now.

Multiply that excitement a hundred fold when I heard directly from the author about his future plans and projects. A couple of days back, this now favorite author has unleashed to the world not only one, not two, not three, but a gazillion projects that he has been working on. He such a prolific writers, that could shame both Patrick Rothfuss and George R. R. Martin for letting their fans wait for years for their next book.

If you are as excited as I am with Brandon Sanderson, then git a full load of these gems that we will be expecting from him.

Firefight by Brandon Sanderson

Firefight

The one book that I mentioned above, to be released next year. As mentioned also, this is the second book in The Reckoners series, featuring David, who killed the High Epic Steelheart in the previous book. Don't forget the next book in the series, called Calamity, which the auhor has already started working with.

Legion: Skin Deep

Another sequel that fans have been waiting for... This limited release, courtesy of Subterranean Press, brings back Stephen Leeds aka Legion. Legion has a mental capacity to create aspects ("hallucinatory entities with a wide variety of personal characteristics and a vast array of highly specialized skills"). It is this ability that makes the story very interesting read.

Alcatraz

After about 6 six years, Brandon Sanderson returns to this sarcastic, funny and revealing stories that you would almost believe it is he that speaks directly to his readers.

Mistborn

I am also awaiting for Shadows of Self in the second cycle of the Mistborn series. And to hear that I will not be only expecting one book if this series, but at least two more gives me a boost to finish the original trilogy already.

After Shadows of Self, which will be released in October 2015, Bands of Mourning will be released on January 2016 to be followed by The Lost Metal.

Future Projects

Brandon Sanderson has still more tucked under his sleeves. First is the sequel to his debut novel, Elantris. Nightblood will also be coming as a sequel to Warbreaker. Dark One is a new series that will feature the villain as the main character. We've read so much about a hero vanquishing a Dark Lord, so it's maybe high time we read something in the perspective of this misunderstood characters. Some of his other upcoming projects include Silence Divine, Legion 3, Adamant, White Sand graphic Novels, and Dragonsteel. You can read more about them in here.

Choose Your Favorite: The Hottest Hunters on TV Today

Hunter
Hunting is a big pastime in America—according to the group that puts on National Hunting and Fishing Day, more than 38 million Americans hunt and fish, collectively spending 228 million days a year in the pursuit of their pastime. So it's no surprise that television is full of fictional hunters who capture the imagination. The hunter as an archetype is ingrained in the fabric of American myth and culture, and here is a look at some of the hottest hunters on television today:

Daryl Dixon

Daryl is one of the main characters of AMC's “The Walking Dead,” a survivor of the zombie apocalypse and master hunter. As an expert in tracking, navigation, and hunting, Daryl has earned the respect of his fellow survivors and has become an important member of the main group. Deadly with his Horton Scout HD 125 crossbow, Daryl is also dangerously skilled with a wide variety of firearms. Daryl grew up in the mountains of northern Georgia, where he developed the skills that have helped him to survive the end-times. If you are interested in refining your skills in the environment that honed Daryl, consider getting a hunter's license and heading to the forests of Georgia. There you can practice your tracking skills without worrying about stumbling upon the walking dead.

John Constantine

The titular character of NBC's “Constantine,” John Constantine is a working class detective, magician, con artist and monster hunter. Snarky, cynical and cunning, John is driven by the desire to do something meaningful with his life as well as the adrenaline rush that he can only find dealing with the strange and supernatural. Played in the show by Welsh actor Matt Ryan, John Constantine was originally the main character of the DC Vertigo comic series “Hellblazer” and “Constantine,” as well as the “Constantine” film from 2005.
Though a talented sorcerer, Constantine relies mostly on his quick thinking, skill at manipulation and vast web of contacts to track down supernatural threats to mankind. Though the television show is still in its infancy, having only debuted in October of this year, you can be sure to see Constantine use his skills with weaponry, thaumaturgy, sigils and even time travel to hunt the forces of darkness wherever they may hide.

Sam & Dean Winchester

The Winchesters are monster hunters in the television drama “Supernatural,” where they work together to slay every monster that stalks the shadows. Raised and taught to hunt by their father John after the death of their mother at the hands of a demon, Sam and Dean spent years searching for their father and the creature that killed their mother. Determined to continue the crusade against darkness started by their father, both brothers bring various skills to the hunt.
Dean is resourceful and skilled in the use of firearms, and Sam is intelligent and well versed in many pseudo-legal activities. Whereas Dean is the fighter of the pair, Sam is the academic. Both have also developed supernatural powers in the course of their journey, making them even more dangerous hunters of the things that go bump-in-the-night. As hunters go, Sam and Dean are a killer pair, which is lucky — their prey is the deadliest imaginable.

J.K. Rowling To Release 'Very Good Lives: The Fringe Benefits of Failure and the Importance of Imagination'

The very first time I watched J.K. Rowling's Harvard University Commencement Speech I was cackling time and time again. She delivered it in front of many officials, "members of the Harvard Corporations and Board of Overseers, members of the faculty, proud parents and, above all, graduates" last June 5, 2008. It was only until September 15, 2011 that Harvard Magazine released the video of said speech on their Youtube channel.

Next year this same speech will be published into a booklet, courtesy of Little, Brown, Rowling's publisher for her adult novels. It is called Very Good Lives: The Fringe Benefits of Failure and the Importance of Imagination. This 80-page words of wisdom (or antics) will feature illustrations by Joel Holland.

Here is the cover and synopsis of Very Good Lives: The Fringe Benefits of Failure and the Importance of Imagination by J.K. Rowling.
