Watch The New Trailer Of 'The Strain', Based On The Book By Guillermo Del Toro And Chuck Hogan

Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan's The Strain has received a warm welcome from readers world wide. It gives a new twist on vampires, the way how The Walking Dead changed zombies in television. Because of this success, FX executives found it proper to adapt the said book into a TV series.

The Strain

The first season of the series will be composed of thirteen episodes. The pilot epidose was written by Del Toro and Hogan themselves, with Del Toro directing, how good is that for a treat. The showrunner is Carlton Cuse, who is also best known for Lost.

Watch the new trailer of the TV series The Strain.

Synopsis

A Boeing 777 lands at JFK with no communication or signs of life. Eph Goodweather, who investigates biological threats for the CDC, is called in and discovers all the passengers dead, and signs that a strange being had been aboard the vessel. Soon, he teams with ex-professor and Holocaust survivor Abraham Setrakian and they assemble a ragtag group that represents mankind’s only hope when a swarm of vampires quickly turn civilization into a buffet spread.

Fittingly for male-driven FX, unlike the traditional, romanticized portrayals of vampires as tuxedo-clad studs, The Strain‘s bloodsuckers have no seductive powers — they are parasites, husks of their former human form with stingers that drain blood for nourishment, while spreading capillary worms that convert victims into more vampires under the control of The Master.

The Strain will premiere on July 13, 2014, only at FX.

Bloomsbury Unveils Jonny Duddle's New Cover Art For Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets By J.K. Rowling

The Phoenix has landed. I mean the new cover of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (UK Edition) has been brought to light online by Bloomsbury. The said cover art is created by Johnny Duddle, who was especially chosen by Rowling and said publisher, also created the new cover art of the first book and of the other succeeding books that will be revealed eventually.

In this cover Harry Potter looked very much a feminine, in this opinion, as he holds in his hand the ancient relic known as The Sword of [Godric] Gryffindor. Take a look at the huge, chlorophyll basilisk, trying to chomp Fawkes the phoenix. All in all the cover was very fantastic indeed, and very much directed for younger readers.ic

Check out the new cover of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling, courtesy of Johnny Duddle.

The newly designed Harry Potter books will start coming out for the public on September 1, 2014 (the same as the opening date of the class in Hogwarts) -- less than a hundred days from now.

Disney Pixar Reveals Plot Details And Major Cast Of Next Movie, Inside Out

It's quite a sad tale when Disney Pixar has taken a year off from their almost annual live presentation offering after their latest, Monsters University. Maybe the team needed a refresher to up their games, but other animation studios are taking advantage, such as Dreamworks, releasing an almost record-breaking 3 movies a year.

Happily next year the former studio will release their newest feature film called Inside Out. It's being directed by Pete Docter, together with Ronnie del Carmen. This Jonas Riveras-produced movie stars Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling and Phyllis Smith. We can almost certainly expect John Ratzenberger's voice to pop-up sometime in this movie, as he always did in all previous Pixar films.

Inside Out

Synopsis

From the tepuis of South America to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In 2015, he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all - inside the mind of an 11-year-old named Riley.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Disney Pixar's Inside Out reveals what's inside our head, coming out to theaters on June 19, 2015.

Extended Life for Your Tablet: Tips and Tools for Protecting your Battery

Battery Drain
The battery is one of the largest parts of most tablets, making it possible to use these devices all day long without a recharge. Even the new iPad Mini can run up to ten hours, thanks to the generous size of its battery. However, too many apps or battery-draining practices can wear down the battery, making the untimely death of your tablet a strong possibility. To maximize your tablet's battery so that you can use it when you want, check out these tips and tools:

Avoid Excessive Heat

According to Apple, heat is one of the biggest threats to your tablet's battery life. Keep your tablet out of direct sunlight, and remove it from your car in the summer time. The intense heat makes the tablet's processor work harder which in turn drains the battery. However, it is important to note that since the device is not equipped with a fan, it has to shut down if it overheats. Thus, if you overheat your iPad, you won't be able to use it whether the battery is full or not.

Optimize Your Settings for Battery Protection

Simple settings can play a huge role in how much battery your device is using. The following necessary adjustments will all lengthen battery life:

1. Turn down the screen's brightness.

2. Turn on airplane mode in "no coverage" areas. If your tablet is constantly trying to connect to nearby WiFi or data networks, it creates an unnecessary wear on the battery.

3. Set up your tablet to automatically lock after a short period of inactivity. This strategy prevents it from staying active when it is not in use.

4. Disable push notifications. Keep the push notifications that are important to you like your Facebook messenger notifications, but remove the ones that are superfluous. For example, you don't really need to know every time Talking Tom is hungry.

5. Disable applications that use location services. You can do this app by app, or you can go to settings, select privacy, select location, and disable location services from there.

Battery Manager Pro

This behind-the-scenes app boasts that it can boost your battery by at least five percent. It starts by getting your tablet into supercharge mode. When the tablet says that the battery is 100 percent charged, this app continues to encourage the battery to soak up even more power. As you use the tablet, this app will shut down unnecessary apps and functions.

When the battery is waning but you still need to use the tablet, you can turn to Battery Manager Pro for advice on which tasks the phone can handle. For instance, if you want to talk or listen to music, this app can let you know exactly how long you can spend doing those activities before the battery wears out.

Complete a Monthly Charge Cycle

According to Information Week, you should complete a full battery cycle at least once per month. Doing this will help your battery stand the test of time. To start the cycle, turn the tablet off and put it on the charger. Turning it off is critical if you want to avoid having the apps drain the battery as it charges. Once the battery is completely charged, use the tablet as normal, but run the battery down to its very last bit of juice before charging it again. Taking it from fully charged to totally dead and back again will invigorate it.

Picture all of those, because they're all going away when you're done watching the new music video by Arcade Fire for their song We Exist.

Alas, her stepmother forbids her to attend and callously rips apart her dress. Rick Riordan Unleashes The Official Cover Of The Blood Of Olympus (The Heroes Of Olympus Series Book #5)

Finally the day that every demigod has been waiting for has come. The official cover of The Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan has been unveiled to the helpless demigods around the world. All this thanks to the fabulous art created by the series' cover magician, John Rocco.

In his most epic and raw rendition of the series, Rocco has placed us amidst the villains while we are watching the heroes attack from above. I am immediately in love with this bluey and reddish tinged cover art, the likes of which we've never seen before in the series.

Check out the official cover of The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan.

Synopsis

Though the Greek and Roman crewmembers of the Argo II have made progress in their many quests, they still seem no closer to defeating the earth mother, Gaea. Her giants have risen-all of them-and they're stronger than ever. They must be stopped before the Feast of Spes, when Gaea plans to have two demigods sacrificed in Athens. She needs their blood-the blood of Olympus-in order to wake.

The demigods are having more frequent visions of a terrible battle at Camp Half-Blood. The Roman legion from Camp Jupiter, led by Octavian, is almost within striking distance. Though it is tempting to take the Athena Parthenos to Athens to use as a secret weapon, the friends know that the huge statue belongs back on Long Island, where it might be able to stop a war between the two camps.

The Athena Parthenos will go west; the Argo II will go east. The gods, still suffering from multiple personality disorder, are useless. How can a handful of young demigods hope to persevere against Gaea's army of powerful giants? As dangerous as it is to head to Athens, they have no other option. They have sacrificed too much already. And if Gaea wakes, it is game over.

The Heroes of Olympus: The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan will hit bookstores on October 7, 2014.

Walt Disney's Maleficent Releases 5 New Character Posters And One For IMAX

Walt Disney Pictures has just released 5 new character poster of Maleficent, accompanied by its IMAX poster. Know a little more about the characters including Maleficent, Aurora, Diaval, Stefan and the three flower Pixies -- Knotgrass, Flittle and Thistlewit.

Check out these posters from Walt Disney Pictures' Maleficent.

Maleficent

Maleficent benevolently protects her home—the forest kingdom over which she presides—and all the creatures that dwell there, but a harsh betrayal turns Maleficent’s pure heart stone cold. Driven by relentless revenge and a fierce passion to protect her land from invaders, the now vindictive and ruthless Maleficent places an irrevocable curse on the human king’s newborn baby, Aurora.

Princess Aurora is a curious and thoughtful child who develops a bond with nature that rivals only Maleficent’s. But as she grows, Aurora is caught in the middle of the seething conflict between the forest kingdom she has grown to love and the human kingdom that holds her legacy.

Diaval is Maleficent’s loyal servant, who, on her command, can take on different forms to suit her purposes. He serves as Maleficent’s conscience and has strong beliefs, which he is not afraid to act upon.

Stefan is a childhood friend of Maleficent’s who comes from the human kingdom outside of the forest Maleficent calls home. Over time Stefan becomes consumed with his ambition to be King and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal.

The three inept Flower Pixies are charged with caring for Aurora until her sixteenth birthday. Knotgrass is a tangled knot of bad humor, bossy and a superior to the other two Pixies. Flittle is a blue Flower Pixie. She always has butterflies flying around her head. Thistlewit the youngest of the Pixies, is always giddy, playful and childlike.

Bantam Unleashes Final Cover Of The World Of Ice And Fire By George R. R. Martin

Previously, we've seen what might have been the cover of The World of Ice and Fire. But recent update has unveiled a new cover for the same book by George R. R. Martin, albeit the final one. Sporting an almost similar hue than the previous one, the cover features the sigil or insignia of House Targaryen.

I think I am loving this professional looking cover because it quite matches the cover of the American version of the original series. The title and subtitle have been finalized as well and I hope Amazon will update their listing soon, as the price have spiked...

Second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Trailer Features All Four Turtles, And Still Looks Ugly-Funny

When the first trailer of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles came out, some of us are a little to dismayed of the reptilian rhinal display. We would have wanted the original look without the nostrils, but the movie reboot found it proper to add this unsightly facial feature. Instead of making it look more serious and realistic it ended up being laughable in an ugly way.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Lucky there was only one of the turtles who got a prominent doze of this exposure and now that the second trailer is out -- guess out? All of them are already present: Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. And it is no better than the last time, because it is four-fold the original ugliness. Director Jonathan Liebesman should rethink his stand on this.

If not, hopefully the four-man team of writers - Josh Appelbaum, Andrew Nemec, Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and John Fusco - will make up the visual defeciency with a juicy story. The movie stars Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Noel Fisher, Will Arnett, Danny Woodburn, William Fichtner, Johnny Knoxville, and Tony Shalhoub.

Astrid Proves It Works Everytime In How To Train Your Dragon 2 "Storm Fly Fetch" Clip

In Game of Thrones, Kit Harington's character, Jon Snow, has a doze of bullying. What with his being a bastard of Ned Stark and all? It seems that part of him will never go away even in his How to Train Your Dragon 2 character Eret. In a new clip released by, Dreamworks you'll see why.

Eret from How to Train Your Dragon 2

In the clip, Astrid tries to intimidate Eret with the never-failing drop-him-to-death scare tactic. What's kind of amusing is we do hear a little of Jon Snow's twang and accent in Eret and he screams like a girl. Just can't stop laughing about it, considering the voice actor's connection with Game of Thrones.
