'Avatar: The Last Airbender - Imbalance' Library Edition By Faith Erin Hicks, Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino, Peter Wartman, & Ryan Hill

I loved and completed all the comic book trilogies that Gurihiro and the original creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender shared with us in the last couple of years. I am especially partial to the compiled library editions with the insightful footnotes and annotations. That is why I was kind of disheartened when after 5 amazing comic book trilogies they parted ways to give way to other voices and perspectives, which in retrospect may actually be a good thing.

Then came a new wave of Avatar: The Last Airbender comic book trilogies courtesy of writer Faith Erin Hicks, still guided by the original creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. These new stories, albeit making sure the characters evolve and mature, are illuminated by artists Peter Wartman and Ryan Hill. The first one in this new wave is called Avatar: The Last Airbender - Imbalance and the much awaited library edition is finally coming our way! But seeing some previews I don't think this will have footnotes and annotations unlike the first wave.

Sequel Alert: 'A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor' By Hank Green Gets Official Cover And Release Date

The Green Brothers, also known as the VlogBrothers, are two of the most fun and inspiring siblings that I am following over social media and publishing world. Their releationship with each other is what I'm hoping to be like how I should be with my own brother. They are a quirky duo who never fails to be charitable, informative, and there for each other.

One more thing I like about these brothers is that they are both authors. Authors of some of my favorite books, which I am sure you've also heard of. The younger sibling (older sibling is John), Hank, is relatively newer to writing fiction but he already has a sequel to his debut novel, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. The sequel is called A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor and its official cover and release date have been unveield.

Synopsis

April May and the Carls are back in the much-anticipated sequel to Hank Green's #1 New York Times bestselling debut novel, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing.

The Carls disappeared the same way they appeared, in an instant. While they were on Earth, they caused confusion and destruction without ever lifting a finger. Well, that’s not exactly true. Part of their maelstrom was the sudden viral fame and untimely death of April May: a young woman who stumbled into Carl’s path, giving them their name, becoming their advocate, and putting herself in the middle of an avalanche of conspiracy theories.

Months later, the world is as confused as ever. Andy has picked up April’s mantle of fame, speaking at conferences and online about the world post-Carl; Maya, ravaged by grief, begins to follow a string of mysteries that she is convinced will lead her to April; and Miranda infiltrates a new scientific operation . . . one that might have repercussions beyond anyone’s comprehension.

As they each get further down their own paths, a series of clues arrive—mysterious books that seem to predict the future and control the actions of their readers; unexplained internet outages; and more—which seem to suggest April may be very much alive. In the midst of the gang's possible reunion is a growing force, something that wants to capture our consciousness and even control our reality.

A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor is the bold and brilliant follow-up to An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. It’s a fast-paced adventure that is also a biting social commentary, asking hard, urgent questions. How will we live online? What powers over our lives are we giving away for free? Who has the right to change the world forever? And how do we find comfort in an increasingly isolated world?

A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor by Hank Green will be released on July 7, 2020.

The Book Of The Ice: 'The Girl And The Stars' By Mark Lawrence Gets An Official Cover

Mark Lawrence is such a prolific author. This year alone he has published 4 equally entertaining and exciting reads. He's been consistent on delivering very good stories and so hearing that he'll be publishing new books makes me excited. Next year we can expect more starting with the first book in his new The Book of the Ice series titled The Girl and the Stars.

The official cover for the said book has been unveiled and the art direction is making it consistent with the covers of the Book of the Ancestor series. Both series have something to do with the same icy post-apocalyptic setting, so I am guessing they are related or interconnected. We have Bastien Lecouffe Deharme (for this stunning artwork--he also did the art for the said previous series) and the art department of Ace, especially Judith Lagerman for art direction, to thank for how this cover turned out to be.

Synopsis

A stunning new epic fantasy series following a young outcast who must fight with everything she has to survive, set in the same world as Red Sister.

In the ice, east of the Black Rock, there is a hole into which broken children are thrown. Yaz’s people call it the Pit of the Missing and now it is drawing her in as she has always known it would.

To resist the cold, to endure the months of night when even the air itself begins to freeze, requires a special breed. Variation is dangerous, difference is fatal. And Yaz is not the same.

Yaz’s difference tears her from the only life she’s ever known, away from her family, from the boy she thought she would spend her days with, and has to carve out a new path for herself in a world whose existence she never suspected. A world full of difference and mystery and danger.

Yaz learns that Abeth is older and stranger than she had ever imagined. She learns that her weaknesses are another kind of strength and that the cruel arithmetic of survival that has always governed her people can be challenged.

The Girl and the Stars by Mark Lawrence will be released on April 21, 2020.
