'Avatar: The Last Airbender - Imbalance' Library Edition By Faith Erin Hicks, Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino, Peter Wartman, & Ryan Hill

I loved and completed all the comic book trilogies that Gurihiro and the original creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender shared with us in the last couple of years. I am especially partial to the compiled library editions with the insightful footnotes and annotations. That is why I was kind of disheartened when after 5 amazing comic book trilogies they parted ways to give way to other voices and perspectives, which in retrospect may actually be a good thing.

Then came a new wave of Avatar: The Last Airbender comic book trilogies courtesy of writer Faith Erin Hicks, still guided by the original creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. These new stories, albeit making sure the characters evolve and mature, are illuminated by artists Peter Wartman and Ryan Hill. The first one in this new wave is called Avatar: The Last Airbender - Imbalance and the much awaited library edition is finally coming our way! But seeing some previews I don't think this will have footnotes and annotations unlike the first wave.

Synopsis

Aang faces a decision from which there is no return!

When Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph return to Earthen Fire Industries--the factory owned by Toph's father--Aang is surprised when their arrival is met with a cold shoulder. As soon as the team is asked for help at a business council meeting, the reason for the slight becomes clear: a massive bender-versus-non-bender conflict has gripped the town and is threatening to turn violent. In order to heal the divide and save the town, Aang and the team will all face tough decisions about power and identity that could tear them apart.

Written by Faith Erin Hicks (The Adventures of Superhero Girl, The Nameless City) and drawn by Peter Wartman (Stonebreaker), in collaboration with Avatar: The Last Airbender creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, this is the ultimate continuation of Avatar!

Collects Avatar: The Last Airbender - Imbalance parts 1-3 (ATLA volumes 16-18).

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Imbalance Library Edition by Faith Erin Hicks, Bryan Konietzko, Michael Dante DiMartino, Peter Wartman, & Ryan Hill will be released on May 26, 2020.
