Cover Reveal: 'Spinning Silver' By Naomi Novik Offers An Exciting Retelling Of Rumpelstiltskin

It's almost the end of the year and I haven't heard anything new from author Naomi Novik, and I got a little uncomfortable. See's been one of the top authors on my list to read since the release of her first Temeraire book, His Majesty's Dragon.

She has been so secretive as of late and her latest book, Uprooted, released in 2015 is not helping her cause. It was such an enjoyable read and I can't get enough of her novels. Luckily, I found an update on the Verge, detailing her upcoming novel, Spinning Silver, which is a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin and written in the same vein as Uprooted.

Check out the cover of Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik.

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik

Synopsis

A fresh and imaginative retelling of the Rumpelstiltskin fairytale from the bestselling author of Uprooted, called "very enjoyable fantasy with the air of a modern classic" by The New York Times Book Review.

Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders... but her father isn't a very good one. Free to lend and reluctant to collect, he has loaned out most of his wife's dowry and left the family on the edge of poverty--until Miryem steps in. Hardening her heart against her fellow villagers' pleas, she sets out to collect what is owed--and finds herself more than up to the task. When her grandfather loans her a pouch of silver pennies, she brings it back full of gold.

But having the reputation of being able to change silver to gold can be more trouble than it's worth--especially when her fate becomes tangled with the cold creatures that haunt the wood, and whose king has learned of her reputation and wants to exploit it for reasons Miryem cannot understand.

Naomi Novik once again creates a wonderfully rich, multilayered fantasty world that readers will want to return to again and again.

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik will be released on July 10, 2018.

Release Of 'The Light Of All That Falls' By James Islington Postponed To 2019, Plus Cover Reveal

If, like me, you are eagerly waiting for the mid-2018 release of James Islington's final The Licanius Trilogy book, then you up for some surprise. Most book sellers originally listed the release of The Light of All That Falls by James Islington next year and that is the very reason I pre-ordered it already. Unfortunately I just received an update from the seller that the release date for the book was postponed so I will have to wait until February 2019 before I can have the copy.

I cannot complain, of course, because I am not entitled to demand from authors when they are going to release their precious books that they had rigorously worked on with labor of Love. For now let us enjoy the official cover of The Light of All That Falls as this trilogy has some of the best book covers that you'll ever lay you eyes on (thanks to Lauren Panepinto for the jacket design and Dominic Saponaro for the jacket illustration).

Checkout the cover of The Light of All That Falls by James Islington.

Cover Reveal: 'The Fates Divide' Is Veronica Roth's Sequel To 'Carve The Mark' (Cyra Noavek And Akos Kereseth Story)

Carve The Mark by Veronica Roth fans, rejoice! The finale of this fantastic duology has come. The official title, cover, synopsis and release date have been revealed and I can't personally handle the excitement. And it's coming to us on the first quarter on next year.

Presenting The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth, the much awaited sequel to Carve The Mark. Cyra Noavek and Akos Kereseth are back and the entanglement of their fates will get tighter and tighter... but, OMG (forgive my language and entitlement), I hate this OCD inducing feeling! The new cover is fantastic but it does not follow the format of the art of the first hardcover book. It follows the later paperback edition and it is killing. I am hoping there will be a boxed set the fixes this.

Check out the cover of The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth.

The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth

And here a video you can enjoy.

Synopsis

In the second book of the Carve the Mark duology, globally bestselling Divergent author Veronica Roth reveals how Cyra and Akos fulfill their fates. The Fates Divide is a richly imagined tale of hope and resilience told in four stunning perspectives.

The lives of Cyra Noavek and Akos Kereseth are ruled by their fates, spoken by the oracles at their births. The fates, once determined, are inescapable.

Akos is in love with Cyra, in spite of his fate: He will die in service to Cyra’s family. And when Cyra’s father, Lazmet Noavek—a soulless tyrant, thought to be dead—reclaims the Shotet throne, Akos believes his end is closer than ever.

As Lazmet ignites a barbaric war, Cyra and Akos are desperate to stop him at any cost. For Cyra, that could mean taking the life of the man who may—or may not—be her father. For Akos, it could mean giving his own. In a stunning twist, the two will discover how fate defines their lives in ways most unexpected.

The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth will be released on April 10, 2018.

Spot 1980s Easter Eggs In The New 'Ready Player One' Official Trailer, Starring Tye Sheridan

The long wait for the third Ernest Cline Science Fiction novel may be taking its toll on me. Ready Player One and Armada opened a gateway of nostalgia to most of the books' readers and the expectation for the the next one is very strong (at this point I am not totally sure if this upcoming book is a sequel to Ready Player One or a stand alone SF novel). It's a good thing Ready Player One will have an adaptation coming to the wide screen early next year or there will be war...

Ready Player One

Ready Player One is directed by Steven Spielberg, one of the icons that made it to the book. But apparently, he has written himself out of the movie, not entirely but drastically. On the other hand, the movie stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, and T.J. Miller, with Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance. The film was produced by Donald De Line, Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger, and Dan Farah based on the screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline. The executive producers are Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Chris DeFaria, and Bruce Berman.

Check out the new official trailer for Ready Player One.

Synopsis

The film is set in 2045, with the world on the brink of chaos and collapse. But the people have found salvation in the OASIS, an expansive virtual reality universe created by the brilliant and eccentric James Halliday (Mark Rylance). When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

Ready Player One will hit cinemas on March 30, 2018.

The Queen of Sorrow by Sarah Beth Durst

Synopsis

The battle between vicious spirits and strong-willed queens that started in the award-winning The Queen of Blood and continued in the powerful The Reluctant Queen comes to a stunning conclusion in The Queen of Sorrow, the final volume of Sarah Beth Durst’s Queens of Renthia trilogy.

Queen Daleina has yearned to bring peace and prosperity to her beloved forest home—a hope that seemed doomed when neighboring forces invaded Aratay. Now, with the powerful Queen Naelin ruling by her side, Daleina believes that her dream of ushering in a new era can be realized, even in a land plagued by malevolent nature spirits who thirst for the end of human life.

And then Naelin’s children are kidnapped by spirits.

Nothing is more important to her than her family, and Naelin would rather watch the world burn than see her children harmed. Blaming the defeated Queen Merecot of Semo for the kidnapping, Naelin is ready to start a war—and has the power to do it.

But Merecot has grander plans than a bloody battle with her southern neighbors. Taking the children is merely one step in a plot to change the future of all Renthia, either by ending the threat of spirits once and for all . . . or plunging the world into chaos.

The Queen of Sorrow by Sarah Beth Durst will be released on May 15, 2018.

'Max Tilt: 80 Days Or Die' By Peter Lerangis Cover Reveal And Book Publication Details

Inspired by the great works of Jules Verne, Peter Lerangis's new series called Max Tilt is about to get even more exciting with the upcoming second book titled Max Tilt: 80 Days or Die. If the first book, Max Tilt: Fire the Depths, was loosely inspired by Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, this new one will draw inspiration from Around the World in Eighty Days.

In fact the cover has been unveiled and it features an iconic hot air balloon (albeit not the same exact one) featured in Jules Verne's Science Fiction/heist novel. The release date has been set as well and I am glad to say that we don't have to wait a year before we can know that fate of Max Tilt, cousin Alex and company.

Check out the cover of Max Tilt: 80 Days or Die by Peter Lerangis.

Max Tilt: 80 Days or Die by Peter Lerangis

Synopsis

The New York Times bestselling author of the Seven Wonders series and of books in the 39 Clues series, Peter Lerangis, brings us the hair-raising, edge-of-your-seat second installment of the Max Tilt trilogy.

When thirteen-year-old Max Tilt stumbled across his great-great-great-grandfather Jules Verne’s unfinished, unpublished manuscript, The Lost Treasures, he thought he had the answer to all his problems, but nothing in life is ever that easy. With his mom’s illness getting worse again, Max needs to figure out a way to save his family—now more than ever.

So Max and his cousin Alex revisit The Lost Treasures, and they find a clue that just might be the key to a cure. It’s the story of Verne’s seemingly impossible recovery from a near-fatal gunshot wound. Somehow, after being shot, Verne didn’t just survive, he thrived. And the book hints that he was only able to do so after collecting magical healing elements that he’d saved from a race around the world.

Piecing together hints from Verne’s Around the World in 80 Days and his lost manuscript, Max and Alex realize there’s a way to save Max’s mom if they’re daring enough to try.

It’s a race against time in the second installment of the action-packed adventure series from master storyteller and New York Times bestselling author Peter Lerangis.

Max Tilt: 80 Days or Die by Peter Lerangis will be released on May 8, 2018.

'The Empire Of Ashes' By Anthony Ryan: The Explosive Finale Of The Draconis Memoria Trilogy

I have come to love Anthony Ryan even more. If you have come across his debut novel called Blood Song then you would certainly know what I am talking about. But a few common things that readers found were that the succeeding books in his first trilogy were getting weaker and weaker, especially the finale (The Queen of Fire) which most of the same readers didn't like that much.

I really hope his second trilogy does not suffer the same fate. I have high hopes for his The Draconis Memoria trilogy that I really needed the final book in the series, called The Empire of Ashes, to not suck and be better that its predecessor. We may have to wait for some time before we can know if that's true or I am just day dreaming. It will be released in the middle of next year.

The official cover has not been unveiled yet, but just like the previous unveiling, it may happen early next year six months prior to the publication. But it the meantime here is the placeholder cover, and I am sorry I was not able to make a fan-made cover, just like I did with The Legion of Flame.

The Empire of Ashes by Anthony Ryan

Synopsis

The third book of epic conflicts and arcane intrigue in New York Times bestselling author Anthony Ryan's Draconis Memoria series.

For hundreds of years, the Ironship Trading Syndicate was fueled by drake blood--and protected by the Blood-blessed, those few who could drink it and wield fearsome powers. But now the very thing that sustained the corporate world threatens to destroy it.

A drake of unimaginable power has risen, and it commands an army of both beasts and men. Rogue Blood-blessed Claydon Torcreek, Syndicate agent Lizanne Lethridge, and Ironship captain Corrick Hilemore, spread to disparate corners of the world, must rely upon the new powers and knowledge they have gained at great price to halt its forces--or face the end of all they know.

The Empire of Ashes by Anthony Ryan will be released on July 3, 2018.

Cover Reveal: 'Restore Me' By Tahereh Mafi Continues The Shatter Me Series

The Past Will Not Forget Me... says the tag line of the first book in the second arc of the Shatter Me series. Tahereh Mafi is back with a bang almost 4 years after we've last read about Juliette and Warner's story. The recent unveiling of the cover art for the fourth book in the series proves that it remains faithful to the ocular theme of the previous three.

The cover, which is almost too color blind since it only features the shade of white and a hue of blue-green, gives off a nostalgic effect of when fans first read Mafi's book. It's simply too good to be true. But at this point you cannot only enjoy the fascinating art of the cover as an excerpt has been unveiled as well. Read a preview of the novel, courtesy of EW.

The Demon Crown by James Rollins

Synopsis

To save mankind's future, the members of Sigma Force must make a devil's bargain as they join forces with their most hated enemy to stop an ancient threat in this gripping adventure from #1 New York Times bestselling author James Rollins.

The Demon Crown

Off the coast of Brazil, a team of scientists discovers a horror like no other, an island where all life has been eradicated, consumed and possessed by a species beyond imagination. Before they can report their discovery, a mysterious agency attacks the group, killing them all, save one, an entomologist, an expert on venomous creatures, Professor Ken Matsui from Cornell University.

Strangest of all, this inexplicable threat traces back to a terrifying secret buried a century ago beneath the National Mall: a cache of bones preserved in amber. The artifact was hidden away by a cabal of scientists--led by Alexander Graham Bell--to protect humankind. But they dared not destroy it, for the object also holds an astonishing promise for the future: the very secret of life after death.

Yet, nothing stays buried forever. An ancient horror--dormant in the marrow of those preserved bones--is free once more, nursed and developed into a weapon of incalculable strength and malignancy, ready to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting world.

To stop its spread, Commander Grayson Pierce of Sigma Force must survive a direct attack on the island of Maui. To be there first has always been the core mission of Sigma Force, a covert team forged to be America's front line against emerging threats. But this time, even Sigma may not be able to decipher this deadly mystery, one that traces back to the founding of the Smithsonian Institution.

With each new discovery, the menace they hunt is changing, growing, spreading--adapting and surviving every attempt to stop it from reconquering a world it once ruled. And each transformation makes it stronger . . . and smarter.

Running out of time and options, Commander Grayson Pierce will be forced to make an impossible choice. To eradicate this extinction-level threat and expose those involved, he will have to join forces with Sigma's greatest enemy--the newly resurrected Guild--even it if means sacrificing one of his own.

The Demon Crown by James Rollins will be released on December 5, 2017.

Official Cover Of 'Turtles All the Way Down' by John Green Features No Turtles At All

It would seem that August is indeed the cover revelation month. Left and right from every genre new covers are unveiled to boost the anticipation of each of their respective release dates. One of these cover reveals just happened for John Green's Turtles All the Way Down. But if you are hoping to find the titular reptiles in the cover, you'll just be disappointed.

But the thing is you don't have to see those turtles in the cover to appreciate its beauty. In a way they are represented by a spiral. Or maybe  the spiral could be a string of genetic material as well. We'll never know and that is its own beauty as it keeps us guessing until we finally read the book. Or maybe we do, from the blurb comes this line: "ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts...," but we'll see. Thank Rodrigo Corral, the artist and designer behind this cover and who did the cover for The Fault in Our Stars as well!

Time and again I would share about my OCD and OCPD tendencies and this book tackles about the first one. If John Green felt it was deeply personal writing it, then reading would be the same in my case. Read on for the synopsis below to know more about the story.

Check out the official cover of Turtles All the Way Down by John Green.

Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.

In his long-awaited return, John Green, the acclaimed, award-winning author of Looking for Alaska and  The Fault in Our Stars, shares Aza’s story with shattering, unflinching clarity in this brilliant novel of love, resilience, and the power of lifelong friendship.

Official Cover Of Bradley P. Beaulieu's 'A Veil Of Spears' (The Song Of The Shattered Sands #3) Revealed

I was just talking about the cover reveal of Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence and--oh boy--when good things rain, they do pour a lot. Here I am, still enraptured by this stoked feeling and still overflowing with excitement, when the cover and synopsis for A Veil of Spears by Bradley P. Beaulieu is also unveiled. The said book is the third in The Song of the Shattered Sands series (and be prepared for books 4, 5, and 6 as well).

This time seems to be a high time for publishing revelations! The synopsis has been posted earlier in some seller sites, but I am adding it below if you haven't read it yet... I am just wowed because I preordered these two books together (along with Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff). Is it just coincidence or what?

This cover bursting with bright color somehow abated my dismay for the transition of designs between the first and second book. DAW has been known to do that to me and it is hurting my OCD. But if you would like to see the process on how this cover was made, you can read about it here. We should all thank Donato Giancola for this mouth-watering cover.

Check out the cover of A Veil of Spears by Bradley P. Beaulieu.

The third book in The Song of Shattered Sands series--an epic fantasy with a desert setting, filled with rich worldbuilding and pulse-pounding action.

Since the Night of Endless Swords, a bloody battle the Kings of Sharakhai narrowly won, the kings have been hounding the rebels known as the Moonless Host. Many have been forced to flee the city, including Çeda, who discovers that the King of Sloth is raising his army to challenge the other kings' rule.

When Çeda finds the remaining members of the Moonless Host, now known as the thirteenth tribe, she sees a tenuous existence. Çeda hatches a plan to return to Sharakhai and free the asirim, the kings' powerful, immortal slaves. The kings, however, have sent their greatest tactician, the King of Swords, to bring Çeda to justice for her crimes.

But the once-unified front of the kings is crumbling. The surviving kings vie quietly against one another, maneuvering for control over Sharakhai. Çeda hopes to use that to her advantage, but whom to trust? Any of them might betray her.

As Çeda works to lift the shackles from the asirim and save the thirteenth tribe, the kings of Sharakhai, the scheming queen of Qaimir, the ruthless blood mage, Hamzakiir, and King of Swords all prepare for a grand clash that may decide the fate of all.

#CoverReveal Second Book Of The Ancestor: 'Grey Sister' By Mark Lawrence (US Edition)

A few days ago, I found the Amazon US listing for Mark Lawrence's Grey Sister, the second Book of the Ancestor. As a good and obedient fan of Mark Lawrence it is a no-brainer that I preorder the said much-awaited sequel... and so I did with great joy.

One thing I noticed by that time is that it does not have a cover yet. We do get an icy placeholder cover with title and author typeset consistent to the first book. Now I am ecstatic because I just found out the official cover of Grey Sister has been unveiled, plus its exciting synopsis.

Check out the cover of Grey Sister (US Edition) by Mark Lawrence.

Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence

The art is once again crafted by Bastien Lecouffe-Deharme, as commissioned by ACE publishing house. The cover was designed by Judith Lagerman, who also designed the previous book in the series. This cover is miles far better than I expected and kudos to the team behind this fantastic visuals. If I were Mark Lawrence, I would be very proud.

And if you are into uniformity and structure, look how good it will look with the first book's cover!

Red Sister by Mark Lawrence

Synopsis

In Mystic Class Nona Grey begins to learn the secrets of the universe. But so often even the deepest truths just make our choices harder. Before she leaves the Convent of Sweet Mercy Nona must choose her path and take the red of a Martial Sister, the grey of a Sister of Discretion, the blue of a Mystic Sister or the simple black of a Bride of the Ancestor and a life of prayer and service.

All that stands between her and these choices are the pride of a thwarted assassin, the ambition of a would-be empress wielding the Inquisition like a blade, and the vengeance of the empire’s richest lord.

As the world narrows around her, and her enemies attack her through the system she has sworn to, Nona must find her own path despite the competing pull of friendship, revenge, ambition, and loyalty.

And in all this only one thing is certain.

There will be blood.

Here it is finally! The 31st novel for adults (or the 25th legal thriller for adults -- obviously the Theodore Boone series in not included here) by John Grisham has finally been unveiled. Its predecessor, Camino Island, left me wanting more and this new book will hopefully help fill in that void.

I have pre-ordered both books months ago, so I am happy to see that we have some details regarding the book already: including the official cover and the synopsis. October won't be a bore because of this (along with other numerous book releases during that book-flood season) and I am simply overjoyed. Head over to EW for some more juicy tidbits.

#1 New York Times bestselling author John Grisham’s newest legal thriller takes you inside a law firm that’s on shaky ground.

Mark, Todd, and Zola came to law school to change the world, to make it a better place. But now, as third-year students, these close friends realize they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a third-tier, for-profit law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs. And when they learn that their school is one of a chain owned by a shady New York hedge-fund operator who also happens to own a bank specializing in student loans, the three know they have been caught up in The Great Law School Scam.

But maybe there's a way out. Maybe there’s a way to escape their crushing debt, expose the bank and the scam, and make a few bucks in the process. But to do so, they would first have to quit school. And leaving law school a few short months before graduation would be completely crazy, right? Well, yes and no . . .

Pull up a stool, grab a cold one, and get ready to spend some time at The Rooster Bar.

The Rooster Bar by John Grisham will be released on October 24, 2017.
