The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowlings New Book for Adults

JK Rowling

Good news to all Harry Potter fans as J.K. Rowling has finally unveiled the title and synopsis of her latest book. The book that every adult Harry Potter fan has been waiting for is revealed to be called The Casual Vacancy. Little Brown, Rowling's preferred publisher for this book has released an official press release regarding the book.

As said earlier this year, this book will be very much focused on adult audience. J.K. Rowling added on her website, "Although I've enjoyed writing it just as much, my next novel will be very different from the Harry Potter series." Further details reveal that the upcoming book is said to have around 480 pages.

Here is the synopsis of the story:

When Barry Fairweather dies unexpectedly in his early forties, the little town of Pagford is left in shock.

Pagford is, seemingly, an English idyll, with a cobbled market square and an ancient abbey, but what lies behind the pretty façade is a town at war.

Rich at war with poor, teenagers at war with their parents, wives at war with their husbands, teachers at war with their pupils...Pagford is not what it first seems.

And the empty seat left by Barry on the parish council soon becomes the catalyst for the biggest war the town has yet seen. Who will triumph in an election fraught with passion, duplicity and unexpected revelations?

Blackly comic, thought-provoking and constantly surprising, The Casual Vacancy is J.K. Rowling’s first novel for adults.

The book is available for pre-order over Amazon. The hardback edition and audio download of the novel will be available for £20.00 each, while the ebook will cost £30.00. An ebook digital edition of the novel will be also released around the same time, but will be available for a lesser price of £11.99.

Grab a copy of the book when it will be released later this year on September 27, 2012.
